Massage Therapy

A brain-first approach to massage therapy

A statement from me:

I want you to feel comfortable in this space. I know that massage can be a very vulnerable experience for anyone. I am here not as the smartest one in the room. Your body is the smartest one in the room. You are in charge of how much clothing you feel comfortable wearing or not wearing. You can choose to have the room bright or dim. You can choose a different type of music. You being comfortable will have a direct effect on your treatment.

Touch is a conversation with the nervous system. I take this into consideration with every massage I perform. I take a whole body approach including considering how the brain is responding to pain and the possibility of the muscles protecting other structures in the body. Our bodies are beautifully made to keep our safety as the top priority. Though, we often think of pain as our body working against us, It is actually working for us; to keep us safe.

FAQ's
Do you offer full body deep tissue massage?

No. Deep tissue is meant to be used as a spot specific treatment. My techniques for addressing pain are light followed by deeper pressure. I have found that utilizing this lighter technique creates longer lasting relief with the bonus of not having to endure more pain.

How much clothing do I have to remove?

You get to decide that. I want you to remove as little or as much clothing as you feel comfortable with. Don't feel comfortable removing anything? I got you. Your comfort level is of the utmost importance and will directly affect your treatment. So, always be honest with yourself and honor yourself FIRST. I am still here to care for you!

What kind of oil do you use?

I always use pure jojoba oil from HobaCare. Jojoba oil is the closest thing to the oils our body naturally secretes, so it doesn't irritate the skin. It also doesn't stain fabrics or leave an oily smell. I have been exclusively using this brand and product for 10 years and have yet to have someone react to it.

Do you diffuse oils or burn candles/incense?

I do not have any fragrances going in my room. However, the other therapists in my space occasionally burn sage or palo santo for short periods of time. Please inform me of any sensitivities you may have, so I can accommodate you as best as possible. I do occasionally use essential oils in my practice, though they are generally used for a specific technique.

Do you take tips?

No, I don't. The price you see is the price you pay. If you are moved to offer a tip, there will always be a non-profit organization for you to donate to in lieu of tipping.

Do you take HSA/FSA cards?

Yes, I do! Receipts will always be emailed to you.

Do you offer just Reflexology?

Yes, I do. It's one of my favorite techniques for total relaxation.

What's your signature massage?

The relaxation session, hands down! This treatment is 75 minutes of massage, craniosacral therapy, and reflexology. It offers the best of both worlds in terms of full body massage and full system relaxation
